At the heart of what we do...

Volunteers are a very important part of our organisation, and we recognise the HUGE contribution which they make to all our services. Through volunteering with CATH, individuals within our community can get a better understanding of our work as a local charity which supports, encourages and promotes the development and delivery of services in alleviating and preventing homelessness while also addressing the issues of poor housing. As a volunteer you can play a vital role by donating a few hours a week to any of the various volunteering opportunities which we currently offer, while also gaining knowledge and experience of the homeless sector, also enjoy the social aspect of volunteering alongside other volunteers and staff while feeling part of the organisation. Our volunteers make a difference, as a Charter Champion we uphold the 10 Key principles of the Volunteer Charter. Volunteer with us...

Individuals may want to volunteer for lots of different reasons - each as valid as the next for example: • being part of the community • feeling of contributing to help our service users • learning new skills and gaining work experience • working alongside other volunteers and staff • sharing knowledge and skills • being in a nice environment and doing something a bit different The benefits to CATH include: Increasing resources and improving quality - Volunteers help us provide a range of services and the efficient running and effectiveness of the whole organisation. Volunteers may also at times bring specialist skills which can be very useful to the support of our work. Diversity - Volunteers may help to increase the range of skills, interests, life experiences and cultural backgrounds within CATH. Accountability - Volunteers view the work we do from different perspectives; we welcome and appreciate comments and suggestions that volunteers make regarding our services, which is an important way of increasing accountability. Community Involvement - Volunteering hugely involves the community in our work and is a very valuable way of promoting and raising awareness of our service users and the services we provide.
